Under the Sea Lyrics "Under the Sea" is a thrilling Calypso track featured in the 1989 Disney animated film The Little Mermaid. The Jamaican crab Sebastian sang to warn Ariel that despite her curiosity about the world above, it is better to stay under the sea. It is inspired by the 1971 film "The Beautiful Briny Sea" by Bedknobs and Broomsticks.
Composer Alan Mankin and songwriter Howard Ashman won the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the track.
